Bill Clinton was now the youngest ex-governor in the history of the United States.

Clinton briefly considered a run for the chairmanship of the Democratic National Committee, but decided instead to join the Little Rock law firm of Wright Lindsey & Jennings.

Although Frank White was an effective campaigner, he was not an effective governor.  He signed into law a bill mandating the instruction of “Creation Science” in Arkansas schools, and later admitted that he had not even read the bill before he signed it.  The law was later declared unconstitutional.  Soon a popular bumper sticker made its way across the state: “Don’t blame me - I voted for Clinton.”
